Recreate Your Worst Gig

I just read about Lady Antebellums recent gas station show.  Apparently it was the site of their “worst gig” before they were big. Amazing idea!!!  Who wouldn’t want to show some real fans how hard you worked to get where you are today.!?  Thats what passion is all about.  Musicians must truly have a passion for the art that they create and share with the world.

Every time  I go to a show I notice the equipment, travel, and amount of time it takes to put on a single night of music.  I was just recently in Alabama for the Bon Jovi and Brad Paisley Concerts On The Coast.  It was a HUGE turnout and much needed tourist attraction.  40,000 plus people showed up for a no holds bar rock show.  But at the same time, it was just as cool seeing Moon Taxi on the side stage playing at The Hangout after they drove down from Tennessee that night.  Its the blood, sweat, and tears that make a band become a tight unit that works together, creates together, and stays together.

You can call a small show the “worst gig ever” but don’t forget its just one step in the journey…without each and every unique showcase no band has a chance!
